When we say HOT, we mean it. Full stop.
Plenty of products slap “HOT” on the label and deliver a polite little warmth. Not this one. Santa Elena starts with the original blend, then turns things up twice. First, the cayenne gets swapped for a hotter variety — roughly 70,000 Scoville units instead of the typical 40,000 (technically that’s “red pepper,” but for practical purposes it’s cayenne with its boots on). Second, a measure of serrano joins the blend for good measure.
The result is solid, honest heat — nothing crazy, but enough that plenty of folks who love the Original will tip their hat to Santa Elena and reach for the medium anyway. Take that as your guide.
Named partly for Jeb’s grandmother, Eleanor Rose, and partly in tribute to a favorite South Texas ranch where he was privileged to be a guest over the years. It also happens to be his personal favorite. Make of that what you will.
